Welcome to The Maitland Clinic, where we provide the most advanced and effective hair transplant and restoration procedures available.
As a COVID-19 Protected Clinic, we are currently offering initial online consultations by email or video call with David Anderson, our senior patient advisor. This assists with social distancing and patients find it to be a very convenient and constructive way to gather information regarding hair restoration principles.
Patients wishing to start the consultation process are asked to fill out the short confidential form below and upload some photos.
Not everyone is a candidate for hair transplant surgery and, in many cases, surgery should not be considered as the first option. At the time of your enquiry we will suggest the most suitable advice for your situation.
After completing the online consultation form, a member of our team will be in contact to recommend the best next steps in your specific case. Please allow up to 7 working days for this.
At The Maitland Clinic, we take long term planning of surgical hair restoration very seriously. As hair loss is progressive in most cases, the need to prevent further hair loss is essential. Therefore, it is unlikely that we would recommend surgery as an option for male patients under the age of 30, unless their hair loss has been stabilised using non-surgical treatments. To read more about who is a candidate for surgery please read this blog.
Younger patients, and those that have recently noticed hair loss, are likely to be directed to our trichologist and hair loss specialist Eva Proudman. This is an excellent option also for those wishing to establish a diagnosis and stabilise their hair loss using non-surgical treatments.
If it is felt that surgery would be appropriate, you would be invited for a Zoom video call with David Anderson, senior patient advisor (approx duration 30 minutes). There is a £50 charge for this. During the call David will talk through the general principles of surgical and non-surgical hair restoration. Patients find the video call very helpful when deciding whether surgery is appropriate for them and the discussion helps them to understand the limitations of surgery and the alternative options that may be available.
Following the video call, a face-to-face medical consultation with Dr Ball can be arranged. This is required to assess your hair loss, establish a diagnosis and discuss a personalised surgical treatment plan. The charge for a face-to-face consultation with Dr Ball is £100. All consultations with Dr Ball take place at our Portsmouth clinic.
Please note that after reviewing the form we may feel that surgery is not suitable at this stage and you will be contacted by email to explain the reasons why, and offered a consultation with Eva Proudman.
To start the consultation process please complete the form below.
Please note that we are currently experiencing high volumes of enquiries. Current waiting times are 6 weeks for a video consultation and the face-to-face consultation may be available 8-12 weeks after this. We thank you for your patience during this time.
Face-to-face consultations with Dr Ball and David take place on Mondays at our Portsmouth clinic. All patients are required to have a video call as a first step.
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) treatments are available Tuesday to Friday at our main Portsmouth clinic.
Trichology consultations and platelet-rich plasma (PRP) treatments are also available at our London clinic.
Patients concerned about sudden hair loss or general (diffuse) thinning throughout the scalp are rarely surgical candidates and a diagnosis needs to be made before treatment can be recommended. Eva Proudman MIT IAT, specialises in the diagnosis and non-surgical treatment of hair loss. More information about Eva can be found here.
Non-surgical consultations are held with Eva Proudman from £100.
Hair transplant and platelet-rich plasma (PRP) procedures are carried out at our clinic in a discreet location on the south coast. Based in state-of-the-art premises in the historic naval city of Portsmouth, the clinic is a short drive or train journey from London and an ideal place if you wish to spend a few days away from work following your surgery. We are also only a 20-minute drive from Southampton airport which conveniently connects with Manchester, Leeds, Newcastle Upon Tyne, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Europe.
