Karen qualified as a Nursing and Midwifery Council registered nurse in 1987. She spent 9 years working in hair restoration during the 1990s and has since worked in clinical research for 12 years. This culminated in 6 years as deputy head of clinical research at the University of Surrey Clinical Research Centre.
Karen’s vast experience in clinical research, management and patient care create the perfect skillset for her position as specialist nurse manager at The Maitland Clinic. Whilst the clinic and our staff hugely benefit from her skills in management and compliance, it is often her highly personal approach to care that makes the most noticeable impact. Her caring and cheerful nature are regularly commented on in our post-treatment feedback, with patients greatly appreciating Karen’s ability to make them feel comfortable and at ease during their procedure.
Karen begins her provision of clinical care with a pre-treatment medical assessment made by phone or email. She oversees the monitoring and comfort of our patients during their procedure and is readily available to give aftercare support and advice during the recovery period.
Karen leads our platelet-rich plasma (PRP) hair loss treatment service and carries out PRP treatments at our Portsmouth clinic. Using a state-of-the-art mesotherapy injector device, Karen is frequently complimented on her “minimal discomfort” PRP injection technique and excellent clinical results.
